Cameroon Elite Football Pre-season: PWD Bamenda & Yong Sport Academy abandon Bamenda Pre-season Solidarity Tournament. But Why?
With Cameroon professional football leagues (MTN Elite One and MTN Elite Two) fast approaching later on this month, every club around the nation is doing their best to stay fit before the season kickstart.
We have seen clubs like Canon Sportive of Yaoundé, Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo, Astres and Union Douala etc all play at least 3 friendly matches so far.
However, this is not the case with North West base clubs as two MTN Elite One clubs in PWD Bamenda and Yong Sport Academy have abandoned Bamenda Pre-season Solidarity Tournament which was scheduled to run from 4th of October to 11th of October 2022 in the PS Ntaafi field.

NB: The Bamenda Pre-season Solidarity Tournament was created before the start of the 2021-2022 Cameroon football championships by some North West journalist and Elites to help prepare their Elite teams before official championship. Since the start of the tournament, four clubs have been participating which are PWD Bamenda, Yong Sport Academy and Rangers FC Bafut and Foncha Street FC.

With due respect to the communique from North West FECAFOOT President, organizers of the Bamenda Pre-season Solidarity Tournament had to decide a new venue for the second edition of the pre-season tournament. Some fans and lovers of the game have threaten the FECAFOOT President of North West Region to not step out into the population or else he will face the consequences.
Reports reaching BraggsSports that the Bamenda Pre-season Solidarity Tournament has been shifted to the GS Nibung field after the North West FECAFOOT President Mbigha Felix disclosed that the reason for the Bamenda Municipal stadium being out of consumption is as a result of a court injunction which has not yet be resolved.

However, lovers of the game and some prominent followers of sports activities within Bamenda are not satisfied with the North West FECAFOOT President’s clarification and deem it “LIES” as the Bamenda Municipal Stadium has been in use all these while by other regional teams until it was time for the Bamenda Pre-season Solidarity Tournament to play there.
What may then be the valid reason behind all this story, could it be greed, or politics? What can we say?
Because, the role of every club is to protect its players, the two participating MTN Elite One clubs, PWD Bamenda and Yong Sport Academy decided to pull out of the tournament as they deem the GS Nibung field is unsafe amidst the crises in the North West Region.
This decision has made the organizers of the Bamenda Pre-season Solidarity Tournament to abruptly put an end to the tournamnet.
