Breaking New: Coton Sport of Garoua edge Bamboutos FC of Mbouda 1-0 to win the Cameroon Cup final.

The much anticipated final has finally been concluded as Coton Sport of Garoua take home the Cameroon cup thanks to a late winner from captain Marou Souaibou.

The Cameroon cup final which marks an end to all football competitions in Cameroon for the 2021 to 2022 season has seen MTN Elite One champions emerge champions again for the domestic cup.

The first half was a much settle play from both sides as none of them could create a goal scoring chance or threaten the other.

However, Coton Sport of Garoua came into a brilliant second half creating a lot of chances but the final thirds were all unable to capitalize.

Bamboutos FC on the other hand were overally average as their main tactics being long balls from back to front where mostly unable to settle to the front men thanks to Coton Sport’s steady backline.

A late long ball from one of Coton Sport’s midfielders saw Bamboutos FC defence stand still as they were all aware their goalkeeper will perfectly save the ball that was in the air and in slow motion. Unfortunately the goalkeeper made blunders leading to a rebound on the body of Souaibou Marou who calmly collected the ball and scored into the empty net sending a thunderous message to Cameroonian football fans that SOYA will ALWAYS be KING in Cameroon ahead of PEAR as the Bamboutos FC players cry and grind their teeth.

Coton Sport now has seven (7) Cameroon cups and they are second to only Canon sportive of Yaoundé who has eleven (11).

Coton Sport’s win today means that they have won the Cameroon football double (Cameroon MTN Elite One and the Cameroon Cup).

Coton Sport will therefor play Cameroon Cup runner up, Bamboutos FC on the 22nd of October to decide the winner of the Cameroon Super Cup (trophee des champions).

It should be noted that this is Bamboutos FC’s second defeat in a Cameroon Cup finals. the first of which came as far back as 2016 as they lost 2-0 to APEJES Academy.

The most popular club (Bamboutos FC) in Cameroon will have to try another time. We wish them  good luck.
