When people do not understand something, they very often tend to grab the easiest explanation next to them. This is a rampant phenomenon in football discourse: grabbing the easiest explanation on the shelf. This is how many cope with football and its variance.
Nothing I hate more than outcome based analysis. Fixation with the results as opposed to focusing on the process. Also awful in relation to players. Everyone looks at g/a instead of what aspects a player excels in.
