Breaking News: PWD of Bamenda breaks a 60-year myth and wins Cameroon Cup 2021 after three trials in the finals beating Astres of Douala 1-0

Finally the Bamenda base blue and white powerhouse  (Abakwa Boys) has won the Cameroon cup after three final trials, first when they fell off the hands of Canon Sport of Yaounde in 1967 and to Dynamo of Douala in 1969.

The win against Astres of Douala was not easy, it was a hard fought 1-0 victory. The lone goal was scored by PWD Bamenda youngster Mbunwe Herbert Chem who eventually won the Man Of The Match award.

Coach David Pagou’s PWD Bamenda in the dieing moments of the game gave a masterclass defensive displace as they tried to prevent the roaring Astres striker Leon Boyomo and his team mates from equalizing.

This is coach David Pagou’s second title with the Abakwa Boys in less than 3 years, first being the Elite One championship which he led them in 2019-2020 season.

PWD will kick off the new Elite One 2021-2022 season against Bamboutos of Mbouda on the 16th of March 2022 in Mbouda. This means the Bamenda base club supporters who could not travel with the team to Yaounde will have to wait until after their game against Bamboutos FC to receive and Parade with the Abakwa Boys with the Cameroon Cup trophy.
