Former Indomitable Lions Captain and Legend Rigobert Song to head Cameroon’s national football team after sacking Antonio Conceicao
On monday evening, Cameroon Sports Minister announced that former indomitable Lions captain and legendary defender Rigobert Song will replace Portuguese coach, António Conceição as head coach of the Indomitable lions of Cameroon.

The just sacked António Conceição led the indomitable lions of Cameroon to a third place finish in the just ended African Cup of Nations after being knockout by Egypt in the semi finals on penalties.
During the announcement, the Cameroon’s minister of sports and physical education said the appointment was on the “high instructions” of President Paul Biya.
This means Rigobert Song will replace António Conceição who led Cameroon into the Qatar World Cup 2022 play-offs against African giant Algeria which is just few weeks away.
Rigobert Song made a name for himself playing in a number of top European leagues and teams such as Liverpool, Galatasaray.
However, Rigobert Song’s managerial career which started in 2014 is yet to impress fans who claim they have not still understood his playing style until date.
It should be noted that the former defender Rigobert Song has already coached the Cameroon U-21 as well as the Chadian U-23 team teams and was sacked. He also worked on a technical capacity for the Cameroonian senior team, which he led them to the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
