Barcelona beat league leaders Real Sociedad 2-1 at Camp Nou on Wednesday evening to go fifth in LaLiga, thanks to De Jong’s first half goal.

Barcelona were made to work hard in the through out the game but were ultimately good value for their 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at Camp Nou.

Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong scored the goals that mattered that moved the Blaugrana up the table and into Champions League contention.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen: 7

There was little he could do to deny Willian Jose’s goal. He did well when called upon other than that. He was on hand to deny Willian Jose and Alexander Isak later on. a Lethal performance.

Ronald Araujo: 7.5

The centre-back looked solid, he was well positioned, and switched on. He had a lot of responsibility, but it didn’t weigh him down. Already looking like the perfect choice to replace Pique in the near future.

Oscar Mingueza: 6.5

The La Masia defender did have a host of nervous moments in the second half and was replaced by Clement Lenglet towards the end of the game.

Jordi Alba: 8

Scored the Equalizer and set up Frenkie de Jong’s goal. Did well defensively. An electrifying performance. forthe Barcelona man.

Sergino Dest: 7.5

Already an important part in Koeman’s game plan. Pace, tirelessness, important interceptions as well as defending well, the American teenager can do all in 90 minutes.

Sergio Busquets – 6.5

He was the only axis of the midfield, and he read La Real’s plays well, allowing him to intercept and distribute the ball to his teammates.

Frenkie de Jong: 8.7

One of his best performance in a Barcelona Shirt. 90% ball passing accuracy, that is insane. He also made six ball recoveries. Forward runs were impressive. His most important contribution was the winning goal.

Pedri: 8.2

Come to think again that this kid is 18 years old. He mad his fair share of mistakes but overturned then into chances later on. Pedri must have won Blaugrana fans hearts with his Puyol-esque instincts to clear Alexander Isak’s goal scoring chance.

Antoine Griezmann: 7

He hit the post with a big chance in the first half, but he played a decisive role in setting up Jordi Alba’s goal. Should have score.He was taken off in the second half.

Lionel Messi: 8.5

Played through the centre, but was afforded the freedom to move wherever he wanted. He looked comfortable in the role, and looked to take some shots from range. lost a couple of passes but was a threat as usual. played key role that lead to both goals.


Martin Braithwaite: 6.8

A constant threat with his pace as he played in the left wing. offered his all in every moment he is asked to.


Francisco Trincao: 5.5

Midway through the second half, he came on to replace Griezmann. Got booked. Losses the ball often.

Carles Alena: 6

Did well after replacing Busquets. Seems like a real work horse.

Miralem Pjanic: 6

Came on for Pedri as a precaution for the teenager after that Puyol-esque clearance. Kept things tidy.

Real Sociedad player Ratings

Alex Remiro: 6

Had nothing to do with the Jordi alpha’s goal. But should have done better with De Jong’s goal. Solid afterward.

Nacho Monreal: 6.2

Constantly beating by the pace of Dest. But was still one of Real Sociedad’s best performer.

Gorosabel: 6.4

Run passed several times by Alba and Braithwaite. Was tidy going forward.

Le Normand: 5.2

As poor as can be imagined. Caught out of position for Frenkie’s goal. Got booked

Adnan Januzaj: 7

the Real Sociedad winger was dangerous going forward. Got booked. Substituted early on in the second half.

Mikel Merino: 6.1

Igor Zubeldia: 6.1

Ander Guevara: 5.5

Martin Zubimendi: 7.1

Martial Real Sociedad’s Midfield so well. Was a major threat going forward.

Willian Jose: 7.5

Scored Real Sociedad’s only goal. Threaten Ter stegen in important occasions but the Barcelona wall was good enough.

Cristian Portu: 7.1 

Setup Jose’s Opening goal of the match. was a threat doing forward. Thanks to Dest who kept things tidy.
