Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has provided an update on what the next steps are for players that have been training with the club.

According to KickOff.com Chiefs appeared to have made several signings despite the FIFA transfer ban that has been hanging over the head, amid the appeal process before the court of arbitration for Sport.

The club earlier confirmed that defender Sifiso Hlanti had started training with the first team, understandably with a view to being signed in the event that the ban is overturned, while several reports suggest that Phatushedzo Nange and Brandon Petersen are also in Naturena.
With the CAS outcome having since confirmed that Amakhosi will indeed be barred from registering any new players for the next two transfer windows, Hunt has since confirmed the next steps they will be taking with the said players.
“Right now, I’m going to have a meeting with the chairman, as we finish here, about those players and we’re going to see what’s going to happen,” Hunt told the media on Thursday morning.
“Possibly we’ll have to loan them out to get some playing [time], we can’t leave a player not playing for so long, but I mean that’s one of the options. I’m not sure what he thinks, but we’ll discuss that.”
While Chiefs may not register any new players, the FIFA ban does not prohibit the club from entering into contractual agreements with players and, while those players are not eligible to play, they will be eligible to registration as ‘free agents’ after the second transfer window in March 2021.
